The unemployment rate is the percent of unemployed workers in comparison to the overall workforce. In order to be considered part of the workforce a person must be willing and able to work. If a person is able and willing to work and is not employed then are counted towards the unemployment rate.
Dow Jones is the shortened name of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA). The index was created in 1896 by Charles Dow and Edward Jones. It is a price weighted index that tracks 30 publicly owned stocks that are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
This is a rate that a bank will charge another bank for lending purposes. The rate is set by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). The rate is determined by economic conditions.
